Mickey Mania (Sega CD) Longplay 1/5

posted in Video |

Part 1 of 5. Sega CD version of Travellers Tales 1994 platformer starring Mickey mouse. I chose the Sega CD version because it’s featuring some nice CDDA music and also sound FX by Tim Wright (Agony, Leander, Shadow of the Beast III, Wipeout etc.)

The only differences between this version and the Genesis version is that there is more voice acting as well as enhanced music.

The SNES had instrumental music, not a shitty synthesiser.

To each their own I guess. The simple riffs on the first level in the SNES one are easier on my ears. But hey, I first played the game when it came out all those many years ago… So nostalgia could also be a reason.

I was talking about music. For me is better Genesis version (i’m a Nintendo fan!)

Sure, but that still doesn’t change my opinion on what I think about the music. The snes version just sounds better to me. I’ll give credit to the Playstation and Sega versions for playing better.

It seems crazy but the genesis version is better and the snes version

Hmmm… This one looks like it definitely has higher production values. But I like the Snes music more.

Thank you so much for staying silent throughout this playthrough, it’s rare to find a silent one these days

Have you ever found The Mad Doctor Mickey before? During the elevator part of the level, make it to the top, then step out. Step back in and the elevator will go up even further. Then head right and into the darkness. You’ll gain a few lives and find Mad Doctor Mickey.

It seems that the Sega CD version had the best sound. The music was better, but the boss themes kind of sucked. The Genesis version had a cool boss theme. The SNES didn’t even have one at all.

The Sega CD boss themes are unique for each level, but they sound too tame. They sound like level themes, not boss themes. Too understated.

Other than that, though. I liked the music better on this version. Far better quality in sound.
